Add three of my favourite things together: food, wine and art, what do you get?
The team at Sea Point’s Winchester Mansions joins forces with local and international artists and some of the best wine estates in the Cape for a five-course meal with wine pairing in the private courtyard. With a bubbling water feature as a calming focal point and Bougainvillea cascading off the balconies, one could easily feel like you’re enjoying dinner in Italy, especially as the day turns to night and a five course meal is enjoyed by flickering candlelight.
Choose to spend the night in one of the comfortable and finely furnished four-star rooms. Including breakfast and luxurious amenities, the colonial feel with modern accents is a heavenly respite. Directly opposite the Sea Point promenade and close to beaches, restaurants and Table Mountain and Signal Hill, it’s a recommended spot for visitors to the Cape.
Winchester Mansions hosts a jazz brunch every Sunday; a buffet-style meal served in the courtyard – and the food just keeps coming. With events happening until the end of the year, you can diarise a date that suits your calendar. Perfect as an intimate date night or evening with friends, the excellent food, service and added offering makes one of Cape Town’s most cherished hotels a highlight.
The 3G evening costs a total of R395 per person for a five course menu, including a wine pairing with each course as well as the art exhibit showcasing local and international artists. Things kick off at 7 pm, but we suggest a sundowner at Harvey’s overlooking the Sea Point promenade before making your way into the courtyard.
