Situated on the bustling Somerset West Main Road, Benguela on Main incorporates a sophisticated approach to fine dining. With Executive Chef Jean Delport at the helm, the regularly changing à la carte menu incorporates classic French and English dishes with a modern twist. Bernard and I experienced the seasonal tasting menu; comprising of a five-course menu with wine pairing, it’s a luxurious Winelands offering.
The interiors, an elegant mix of high-end furniture, tasteful light fittings and carefully curated artworks, make the experience one of utmost sophistication. Classic with a mix of edgy accents (like a glitter wall and modern benches), the space is impeccably designed to fit the flavoursome menu.
Sommelier Denis Garret hails from France and is a member of Association des Sommeliers Paris Ile-de-France, the oldest sommelier association in the world. His thick French accent paired with a passion for the wines presented, makes the experience undeniably charming. With a flick of his wrists the waitrons dispersed, carrying with them each course and wine pairing.
Every morsel is scrupulously prepared, each wine specifically chosen. Be exposed to unusual flavours and off-the-grid wines – with exceptional service to go with it.
