The launch of an exhibition at Salon91 without fail makes me question my decision to not pursue fine art. Everyone looks so cool and artistic. And the art is always so contemporary, accessible and what I wish my walls at home were hung with. The launch of ‘Dreams, amongst other things’ was no exception. You still have time to catch the remainder of the exhibition, which closes Saturday 16 May 2015.
The show is an introduction to the work of Gabrielle Kruger, Amber Moir, Mia Louw and Isabella Kuijers. It’s tranquil, muted and, combined together, makes for a wholly peaceful and rewarding viewing experience.
Salon91 serves both as a boutique-style gallery and art consultation service. Aptly located in the trendy Kloof Street, it showcases works by emerging and established contemporary artists, with a passion for developing a new brand of local talent.
Founded and curated by Monique du Preez, the focus is on South African art, design and illustration. What’s more, the art is more affordable for young collectors and buyers starting out, so if you’re keen on expanding (or starting) your own personal art collection, this is the perfect jumping off point.
