Peddlars & Co. has become something of an institution in the Constantia Valley, and Chef Brad Ball is the passion behind the four distinctly different eating and drinking experiences there. Graciales, the recently opened tapas bar, is vibrantly furnished and serves bold flavours, interesting dishes and fun cocktails. The emphasis is on sociability and the joy of sharing of food – so go ready to tuck in.
Freshly furnished with bold colours, bright light fittings and a fun pop art theme, there’s nothing serious about it. Relax in the airily lit room, complete with bamboo table tops, bright plastic chairs and a mosaic tiled bar. It’s comfortable, relaxed and oh so on trend, in a free and youthful kind of way.
We tucked into the salted edamame beans (R50), an easy favourite, and the sticky Vietnamese ribs (R48). These were washed back with a draught beer and glass of bubbles. For a light lunch or round of drinks, and something fresh and tasty in a space that exudes this too, Graciales is where its at.
PS. Plan your visit so that you can stay for a game of rugby at The Local next door – the Valley’s amiable, vibrant pub.
