Loaves on Long is a newly opened artisan eatery and bakery on the bustle of Long Street. The small, sparsely decorated but comfortable space offers patrons good food, fresh baked breads and pastries at an affordable price.
A joint project between co-owners Ciska Rossouw and Lyndal Wakeford, start your day with a cup of Stellenbosch’s Legardo coffee before tucking into a light breakfast or lunch.
We were fortunate enough to attend the opening; a day to drink some bubbles, eat a sample of their menu and… tuck into fresh bread and deli preserves of course. The pair have a ‘no fuss’ approach to food and cooking – it’s simple food using only the freshest ingredients, ethically and locally sourced as far as possible.
All breads are baked on site using stone ground flour, while all cured meat and preserves are made in-house. It was a delightful, casual way to welcome this new bakery and eatery to Cape Town’s CBD; an easy, down-to-earth neighbourhood favourite.
