Generally we review places that’re new, hip and happening. Rafiki’s is a Cape Town institution, it’s the place you can grab a beer in your beach wear, wet cozzie and sandy feet and no one will look sideways. It’s awesome. We’re saddened to announce that it is however closing, so grab your beer, half price pizza (every Monday) and chili poppers before June 2016.
Ideal for summer sundowners – be it cocktail or sweating beer – sit on the outside deck overlooking Kloof Nek Rd. With views of Table Mountain and Devil’s Peak from the back, and Signal Hill from the bustling upstairs bar, it’s a scenic little inner city hot spot.
Casual and unpretentious (and by casual we mean casual), you can grab some carb-rich grub that goes down a treat with an icy draught. I used to live in Tamboerskloof, just two roads up, so I speak from experience when I say this place is a popular nighttime watering hole. Jamaican themed – to the point you may even grab a whiff of the green stuff – from nachos to pizza to burgers, Rafiki’s has it all.
We suggest you pay it one last visit before it closes. And with Cape Town’s current heatwave, a spot upstairs is all the more attractive.
